    Default Interesting "tree rat" regulations for Quebec

    I emailed the MFFP in Quebec and asked if it was legal to hunt and/or trap squirrels in Quebec. I was curious how it compared to Alberta, BC (where my cousin's teenage grandkids live, hunt and fish) and way down here in Texas. I was a little surprised at that response but every region is different so I probably should not have been:

    Dear Sir,

    Further to your request, we invite you to click on the following link:

    · Trapping seasons in the UGAFs

    http://www.mffp.gouv.qc.ca/english/p...asons/ugaf.asp

    Definitions of others species : Long-tailed weasel, least weasel, coyote, grey squirrel (grey or black), American red squirrel, ermine, wolf, striped skunk, raccoon, Arctic fox (white of blue), red fox (silver, cross or red).

    So you can’t hunt squirrels with a firearms. But, if you have the trapper certificate you can trap it.

    · Certificate and licence

    http://www.mffp.gouv.qc.ca/english/p...te_licence.asp

    "To obtain the trapper's certificate, Québec residents must:

    be at least 12 years of age;
    have taken the Trapping and Management of Furbearing Animals course approved by the Department;
    and passed the course exam."

    We also invite you to consult our website at the following address: http://www.mddefp.gouv.qc.ca/faune/importuns/index.asp

    We always recommend that you call in an exterminator or trapper if you encounter problems in removing the animal. Contact information for professional exterminators and trappers can be found in the yellow pages of your local telephone directory.

    We thank you for your interest in the Ministère des Forêts, de la Faune, et des Parcs, and take advantage of this opportunity to invite you to submit your opinion as to whether or not you feel we have met our commitments and provided adequate service, by clicking on the following link:

    One of the best ways to trap squirrels is using a squirrel trap/small game trap. Does anyone have any good squirrel recipes?

    To answer the OP original question.....

    Yes, snares on a pole leaning against a tree or fence works great

    I am impressed by this company and the snares they make. Very well constructed, low cost and they ship to Canada which makes it easy for you.http://dakotalinenares.myshopify.com/pages/new-products
