    Cool Where are they now?

With Wareagle's return I began thinking of forum members on here who were regulars and posted some pretty good stuff. They have dropped out of sight, although a few do watch from the bushes oft times. Here's some of the ones I remember and what I know about them in regards to activity and posts:

MEMBER................... LAST ACTIVITY DATE...........LAST POST DATE.
    OWL GIRL..................12-21-2011.........................8-9-2010
    TRAX.........................3-08-2011..........................1-25-2011
    FVR...........................1-14-2015..........................2-16-2013
    GRAY WOLF................1-24-2013..........................6-14-2009
    SMOK.........................9-12-2013......................... 9/12/2011
    RICK SAR................... 6-20-2015..........................1-16-2010
    BEO...........................5-31-2015..........................11-11-2013
    PICT.......................... 6-14-2012..........................8-27-2010
    RYANINMICHIGAN.......4-19-2015..........................6-02-2014

There's more but these are the ones who came to mind. If any of you wish to add more names bring it on and I'll add them to the list. If there's any of these missing members reading this drop in and chat awhile, you are sorely missed!....

Those dates are not unusual Sarge.

I belong to several forums dealing with different activities and find that the average forum member lasts about 18 months before becoming bored and finding a new hobby.

Many have a period of burning obsession and then just as suddenly burn out and move along to the "garden tractor group" or the "wood turning association".

There are a great number of people that have the attitude that they can do only one forum at a time and must decide which interest is more dominant in their lives, so the kitten rescue society wins out.

Some people would feel that all the folks that come and go might do so because they get mad and leave, but that is not usually the case. People get bored quickly and feel they should be entertained. Sometimes that does not happen here, so they go elsewhere.

I have never seen participation drop to the point that anyone leaving ever affected the forum negatively, even long term, high volume post members that went ape $h!@ and got themselves banned. The rest of us just keep plugging along.

The success of this forum is the presence of long term members who do not burn out and remain a stable core while dozens of short term visitors orbit around us, feeding much needed new insight and causing us to stretch our thought processes.

Good moderators help too. Some of the new blood comes here with the intent of taking over the forum and putting us in our place. In the words of Dr. Phil; "let us know how that works our for you."

There are some I miss. For some reason I miss Pocomooneyes and Equis, perhaps because I met them face to face. I also wonder what happened to Payne, last seen floating down the Yukon River on a soggy log while munching on unidentified mushrooms.

No surprises - folks will make a connection and after a while loose interest. Or one member will dog you or another will post something that all other people must do this... In my case I post something from the heart and get kicked off. Sucks when you have to type your mind. Owls are outspoken.

Things change, lives change, interests change....

Seem we have a lot of people that are interested on one thing....gardening or knives or knife making and lots of other subjects......and kind of burn out after these thread stop.

Personally I have an interest in many things, am easily amused, enjoy humor and a well turned phrase.

Being retired, and been slowed by surgery a bit, posting is a time filler and kick starter.

    Yup, another "plugger"

The nice thing about most of the long term folks that are still on is that we can roll around in the dirt on a subject and still buy each other a cup of coffee at the end. We don't take things personally. Some of the short term folks can't do that. It is personal with them. Not targeting anyone on that list just folks in general.

Yeah, WV Coot had some great sayings. Lost ball in tall grass is one I use from time to time. That gem was his.

Yea, I wonder what ever happened to Payne. I get a bit discouraged sometimes when a newbie post a really nice, interesting intro then never moves on to become a full member, cussing and discussing and sharing their adventures.

He was before my time but no one has mentioned that Blade fella...kind'a strange. I get the feeling that he was much loved and revered by most of the "core" group here. <<<<retiring to the bombshelter my dad built in 1961 now)

Was it Blade that brought on the invention of the "Troll Toss" term or was that someone else?

Remy went away on his own accord. He got tired of mods interfering with his pot stirring. Bragg was banned years ago.
