I'm looking forward to your posts on this subject. Was the class about animal tracking or man tracking? or both?

Given the number of threads that we've seen over the last 8 years a specific sub-forum wouldn't be used very much. Tracking threads don't come up very often.

Good point, although i am interested in where this thread goes. The only thing i can track is a train, and half the time I am wrong on that. I find the tracks but it is hard to figure out which direction it went......

Actually, that's pretty easy. Kneel down and place your ear to the rail and site along the rail. If you see the train approaching it's in front of you. If it sneaks up on you it's behind you.

I was teaching my nephew how to track and look for sign this weekend, as we got to the woods I realized how unprepared I was to pass on what I know. I vote for a tracking sub forum.

Dang it, I knew it had to be something simple I was overlooking! That is why I love this site..... So much useful info!

Instead of tracking sub-forum perhaps a sticky in general survival would suffice.

A tracking sub forum would get me into big trouble.

There are several people I have been needing to track down and beat with a stick for decades.

If someone teaches me how to do it I'll wind up in jail.

it is one of those skills that most don't practice...probably why I got into it...the challenge......I still need to figure out how to put pics on here from my laptop and then we will see how much interest my tracking pics generate

Did you ever get the feeling someone was following you?

I got my basic level man tracking cert this year too. When you start getting into it, you don't want to quit, lol, so I understand how fired up you are about it.

At most forums a multitude of threads and interest precedes a separate sub-forum for a topic.
There are threads on human tracking at law enforcement, professional rescue and recovery forums. Increased interest among amateurs after the N.Y. prison break I guess. Personally I have always had more interest and use for animal tracking, especially speculative or predictive tracking based on knowledge of animal behavior. But that is part of tracking humans as well, most are fairly predictable.

I was tracking a coyote across a frozen lake and one set of tracks split into two sets. I thought no way but later on I heard a story from a friend that had come across the same thing. Coyotes are clever
