DD asked me once about writing a story....gave her the "Dark and Stormy night" ...line...

Teacher ask her if she was a Snoopy fan...(Charlie Brown).......LOL

Not to rain on your parade, but the one about the traveling salesman and farmers daughter has been done a bit much as well.

And "It was the best of times...."
Actually, the dark and stormy night line is original to Edward Bulwer-Lytton (I think I have the spelling right). Snoopy lifted it from Paul Clifford.
True enough, my final home is still out there, but this is most certainly my home range and I love it. I love every rock I fall off and tree I trip over. Even when I am close to dying from exhaustion, a beautiful sunset doesn't lose it's power to refresh and inspire me and that, in itself, is enough to save me sometimes.

Yeah, I know, was referenced in the Wikipedia link provided.
These days, the Snoopy reference (also noted in that link) is most likely the most quoted....and least it was by her teacher....LOL

    P.S.
Seems Bulwer-Lytton was not the orginal author either...
    From the link Rick provided...
Quote>Although Lytton did not originate the line, he exploited its familiarity to begin his novel, as have several other writers who followed him< Quote.

Heh, I got it from a book on horror (Creatures of the Night).
