    Smile Hi from North Carolina!

Hi, my name is Lauren Henneberg. I am an actress and producer in North Carolina. I have acted in The Walking Dead (I was a Walker in Seasons 1-4), The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, Teen Wolf, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Parts 1 & 2. I am also an avid Survivalist and have been studying bushcraft skills, archery, hunting, fishing, and edible plants since middle school. I'm in the process of developing a new survival video series called Selene Survival Goddess. If you look up my Facebook page, Selene Survival Goddess, in my page photos you can see where I have recently explored making cold processed acorn flour and baking with acorn flour, how to make pine tea, wild onion soup, and of course hunting and fishing are soon to come later this year too. Thank you for having me in the group, and I'm looking forward to learning more and making new friends!

Thank you all so much. What are the rules with advertising here? I don't want to come across as a spammer. Just curious if I can share my YouTube videos or my Facebook survival page adventures with wilderness skills.

    2. Do not spam. Spam is a solicitation for members to do something for your benefit. Be that to buy something from you, join your group/society, visit your website, whatever. I don't care if you run a non-profit website benefiting albino eskimos. Pepper the forums with solicitations to join it and you'll be banned, and the links removed. If you have a website or business, your signature (edited in your User CP (see top left)) is the place for it, and we have absolutely no problem with you using your signature to promote your business. So long as that isn't your only contribution to the forum.

You can post your YouTube videos (you may not be able to post a link until after your 10th post...part of the software to prevent spam). As far as your Facebook stuff, it would be better to put the link in your signature (again, after 10 posts) with the only caveat being that you cannot then direct people to it. For example - check out my signature for the latest.......

    Welcome to the forum!

Is acorn flour any good? I've always wanted to try that, but somehow I've never actually done it.

Okay, that makes sense. Thank you hunter63 and crashdive123 for letting me know. I'm new to forum etiquette. Hello to everyone!

Tundrabadger, I've found acorn flour surprisingly sweet and delicious! Most people usually just boil the tannic acid out of acorns because it is fast and fairly effective, but I've found that if you're patient enough for a week or two of leaching that tannic acid out by cold processing and changing the water out for fresh every day, the flour retains WAY more natural nutrients and flavor that are otherwise destroyed by heat processing. Today I'm actually going to try a Native American Fry Bread recipe with the acorn flour! I'll post on an appropriate thread category to let you all know how it goes. I'm also interested in trying to brew acorn ale, if it's possible, but I'm new to home brewing so will have to do more research first and meet with other brewers.

I'm looking forward to that fry bread post. And really curious to hear if the ale is workable.
