    Default Trauma Surgeon Thrower

I thought I'd share my latest fun project.

I've always been a thrower enthusiast. It's a fun hobby. I've made a reasonable assortment of throwing knives, and a lot of scrap metal bo-shuriken, which certainly don't need to look good, but it occurred to me that there was no reason they shouldn't, nor shouldn't be made from proper heat treated blade steel. So, last week or so I came up with a scalpel inspired design I liked and started turning them out of some 3/16" 1075. I jokingly named the design the trauma surgeon.

They are very 'mall-ninja' to be sure, but deliciously so, and a lot of fun to fling across the shop.

I have never been worth a crap at knife throwing, so I guess its good I can shoot straight. They look cool and very fun to play with.
Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellers they are established.

At one of the first jamborees I took some throwing knives, hawks and targets. After much badgering Mrs. Crash finally walked up, picked up a hawk, nailed it dead center and sat back down. Things got real quiet for a moment. Lot's of eye blinking. Of course, Crash, not to be outdone split the handle on one.

Now there's an idea right there. Even better than a sheath.

Awesome! Now you made these out of other steel modeled after scalpels or from scalpels? Have you weighed them ?

Just scalpel inspired. The inspiration comes from a friend of mine who's a medic and fancies himself a bit of a rambo type. If he ever makes it back by the shop I'm actually giving him the prototype.

They're made from 3/16 1075 bar stock. I don't have an accurate scale, but 10 of them weighed nearly 2lb, so they're in the neighborhood of 3oz.
