Thread: Hello the camp...

  1. #1

    Default Hello the camp...

Ran across the site and signed up to view images/photos.

Live in Alaska, retired military. Lots of bush time both active duty and in my work after leaving Uncle's workforce.

Now working as a tech writer. Have a few books on Amazon, mostly for fun.

I enjoying see what 'things' (methods or equip) folks come up with for outdoor use....

(Waves) looking forward to seeing all that is posted.

Thanks for the welcome, the board is very frustrating to use - I can't even use the 'reply with quote' if it contains a url from the other poster....

I guess I've have to post some "wow, that's neato' fluff to get enough of a post count to allow images or url's. Pretty limiting, but them's the rules....

Not quite - I live in the largest Native village in the State.

LOL - you get it! Los Anchorage is a great place to live, because it's such a short drive to Alaska. I worked for a decade at a local communications company and spent a fair amount of time in the bush working on telcom systems. Nothing like climbing into the hub of a 9 meter dish to replace the LNB at -20F... Great fun.

All on your own and the locals really don't care for folks from outside the village....

Been there done that, was no problem getting inside the dish to change the feed horn. Hard part was getting out. Funny now that I look back. I was 300 ft in the air on a tower.Welcome to the camp, pull up a chair.
