    Default Making Cypress Bark Tiles

We recently acquired a 12" diameter Cypress trunk about 12' long. I wanted to remove the bark and install it as a column in our home. The log had been lying in a low area was so fairly water logged. The bark came off basically in 2 halves the length of the trunk. Pretty interesting material I thought with vibrant colors so I save the bark halves.

Moving forward I had the idea to make bark tiles. I have dried it out to allow me to better saw it. I am thinking of sawing the halves slightly over 12" to allow me to flatten the 12" sections, before cutting down to 6" X 6" tiles. Because the trunk had been in the low spot it will also need to be cleaned. I was wondering about maybe using a 5 gallon bucket of Pine Sol to both soak and clean the bark? I looked into the main ingredients listed below:

    Ingredients:
    Water
    C10-12 Alcohol Ethoxylates
    Fragrance
    Hydroxyethylcellulose
    Liquitint® Lemon Dye
    Sodium C14-17 Sec-Alkyl Sulfonate
    Sodium Carbonate

Anyone have thoughts on this project? I am just putting it together.

    Thanks,
    CS

Could you not use air pressure to clean the excess dirt/debris off?
I would wonder if the pinesol would dye the wood?
I have no idea, just throwing out some initial thoughts...
When all else fails, read the directions, and beware the Chihuahuacabra!
