Help with 94 jeep cherokee

Ok everyone,i am in desperate need of help replacing the ignition switch in the jeep cherokee i just purchased,i got old one out but am having problems getting new one in,also when i unhooked actuator arm rrom switch it sprung back up into column and i cannot find it!!!!have mcnallys book that have beem using for reference plus been online searching and all i find are the most basic of instructions.remove bolts undo arm unhook power repeat in reverse to install.am i doing something wrong?someone please help before jeep becomes victim to an unfriendly fire issue
