    Default One TOUGH Outdoorsman!

Remained active until the end. A Yukon trapper born there in 1916 and died at the age of 98... still out there.

Wow! That's a tough guy! Like Sinatra, he did it his way right up to the end. What a great run he had. I bet he had some stories!

Default Bibber was a hero, trapping done right can help to preserve wilderness.

Cool story, remarkable man! It is important to keep those skills alive and practiced. I had heard that large commercial fur farms in Russia were making it difficult for N.A. trappers to earn a living. Personally I believe well regulated, ethical tapping especially by aboriginals (this man's kids) and non-aboriginals like Mr. Alex Van Bibber who respect the wildlife and wilderness is important to preserving wilderness areas. Furs and hides also make great outdoor apparel, not just for high fashion.

What a lot do understand is there is many like him, that never get any credit of stories about them........
They didn't look for it in life, and don't care what other think......they just did it their way.....
    Still a cool story.
