I was one of those guys and I still believe that to be true. My experience with psych staff is that they are nuttier than a squirrel turd, but, they have a caring heart to help people. I have yet to meet one that want's harm to come to someone, let alone cause that harm themselves.

Now, take all this wasted money on gun control and invest it into psychiatric care. Get the mental people that are on the streets that can never function in society into a permanent home with proper care. Take mentally ill who have shown to be physically aggressive and/or suicidal and give them proper long term treatment when it is needed. Invest into psychiatric care research like other health care research so better methods and treatments can become available.

So, yeah. I said it, and I still mean it.

I had such an incorrect view on "crazy" people until some lets say "quality" time in the back of an ambulance with them. Closure of mental facilities really seems to have take it's toll... I did not realize just how many homeless people were not "just lazy" but seriously delusional and paranoid schizo... Really sad...

On the same note, I know people you would never think were any different until you got on a conversation about afterlife, crystal space light cities, multiverse parallel universe theories etc.... Things that would make you want to commit them, but they were totally normal otherwise. Just very unique out there theories and beliefs. So the term "nuttier than a squirrel turd" seems very subjective, unless you are referring to them being clinically insane. But in that case I don't think they'd hold that position.
