    Default Neck Knife Survival Kit

There have been a lot of survival kit discussions recently so I wanted to dredge up an oldie for the new folks. Mac hasn't been around in a long time but while he was here he posted some great stuff. One of them was a Survival Neck Knife. You can find him on YouTube on the Colhane channel. He has some top notch stuff. Several of us followed his lead and built them.

I built one as well, based on a Becker Necker....found it got in my way so ended up in my "Flea Market Bag"....as it already has most of the needful things on it.

    Still a great idea........

I used his milk bag idea for a couple of my kits. Works well in the kit in my NEF survivor 12ga stock.

I made one around a Newt Livesay and one around a Esee Izula. I keep the Newt Livesay in my pack and I gave the Izula to my brother. He wears it. I just can't get used to having anything hanging around my neck. Knives on the belt and in the pockets and packs for me.

This for me as well. I can't even stand a tshirt that's tight around my neck...
I like the idea, but I'm afraid after a few minutes, it would be torn off and thrown in the pack.

I for one don't have one. May have to build one and see for myself. I do like the idea of what he did. As an after thought has anybody done something like this to a belt knife?

I used a break away clasp for my knife. I have a phobia about getting the cord caught on something sliding down a bank or tripping. This way the knife will come off rather than strangle me. As for the belt knife, I have not but I don't see any reason it couldn't be done.

I am also of the "not around my neck" school of thought.

I have most of that kit hanging on my keychain, which is clipped to a belt loop, and does not choke me.

    Too each his own.
If you didn't bring jerky what did I just eat?

Sadly not legal to do that (wear around the neck in the shirt)everywhere. Cool video.
