Nice kit man . How are you liking that SOL knife ?
Good enough for small work and emergency work..cos its better than when you have none..its with AUS 8 blade. However, I don't rely on it..I use it mainly for cutting strings or food prparation..I always have my Mora Bushcrfat on my belt...

I love mora knives in general .I think they are the best bushraft knife if your on abudget .
See my post today..I have 2 Moras...but take it easy Dude..I am now 54 years old...and have worked my butts off....so I think its okay for me to reward myself after being able to see my two sons through University without taking any loans for their studies.
Take your time and enjoy what you can afford, but at the same time make sure you've a steady income so that you upkeep yourself and at the same time do what you like. I have been in this hobby for many many years..and after 30 over years..these are all that I can afford....take your time. Do not rush into things...Prioritize!

I don't have an Altoids tin either. Lord knows I've put a few small kits together in my day but just never used a tin. I think small kits are handy but I sure wouldn't want to have to rely on one for actual survival. Here's the key chain Sarge referenced.

There's nothing wrong with the little kits as long as they are not relied upon to do the things that they cannot do. Your kit's contents look useful (change the dollar bill out for a 10 or 20 if it is intended to buy something) and well thought out.
I've never made an Altoid tin kit either.
I have put together a small kit utilizing a small peanut butter container.
I can see there uses, and am willing to try my hand at one.
When all else fails, read the directions, and beware the Chihuahuacabra!

Looking on the brighter side..maybe those altoid tin kits can be used as an EDC or a Urban survival kit ...

Actually I started when "BANDAIDS" came in a metal box mid 1960's.
I kept:
2 single edge razor blades
braided fishing line
fish hooks
line weights
fish bobber
strike anywhere matches(the real ones)
6 BANDAIDS
Plastic bag
a couple of small nails
a couple small screw eyes
Magnifying glass lens
Small square of foil
cotton balls
bees wax
coil of wire
Pretty much same as today

Very much like mine for the '60 as well.....You get the idea from Field and Stream?
I was a smoker and had a plastic two piece cigarette box I carried while hunting......gotta keep the smokes and matches dry.
Like these.....

Anyway started carrying aspirins, and the directions for cleaning a deer (pages for a magazine)....and just keep getting more stuff as the needs presented their self.
Kept expending over the years. to the pouch....still has the box in it, but don't smoke any more.
Was posted in another thread.....but is the product of 50 years of use.....
