wow, you have a bunch of stuff, stuffed into that tin. I have not put together a PSK from a altoids tin but have put together a few fishing kits from bandaid tins and prince albert tins.

I truly believe that Really small survival kits such as the kind you mention are a waste of time. They are, IMO, a placebo for survivalists to brag about! Check this out and read #5:

I agree with Sarge.

I use the tins to make kits, but not survival kits. I have made a few fishing kits, pocket sized first aid kits, and fire kits. I also use one to make char cloth. Most are used to hold items within a larger set-up.

I agree with Sarge too. My survival kit is a bag, all items placed neatly in zipped plastic bags. Essential items in a mess tin with a cover and then sealed. All these items are then in a small bag or pouch. My small is big to the others in Malaysia.

Well thats something to consider but I think its fun trying to make the, , to see what you wil need and what you can fit inside an altoids tin . It may not save your life but I still think theyre fun . Thats just my 2 cents

Of course having fun is not wrong..it helps to keep the passion and motivation going...but at the end of the day, please please make sure you really think what you need to bring with you...ENJOYYYYYYY!!!!!!

If you like teeny tiny survival kits ask Rick to show you his key chain...

I have made several and in the smallest one, all the items fits inside a Condor Rip-Away EMT pouch. It includes a reusable two person tube tent.

I have also bought a few of the USMC Force Recon Survival Kits that were issued to the Marine pilots who might find themselves behind enemy lines and such. Scroll down to the bottom to see all the items:

I don't place too much stock in the altoids "survival" kits but do think they have their uses. Fire kits seem to fit in them well and I like to place some rudimentary first aid items in them such as alcohol pads, band aids, and glue.

I have a couple of marbles machetes that have two pouches on the sheath. One for a sharpening stone and the other will get the rudimentary first aid. I never have gloves with me so I'm all the time getting stuck with briars, thorns, and scratched or cut while using the machete so its a good investment.

I remember when I first started all these many many many moons ago. Used to collect a number of Strepsil and Tobbaco cans...making my own survival kit. Then as time goes on, and along the way, realized that all I need was a pouch and some zip lock bags to keep them in one place. Let Cameron go on with his fun...its fun and he should enjoy them..It will be a good learning curve.
Yes now I remember how fun it used to be..go for it Dude...if it keeps you motivated...I am sure you will soon find what works best for you....now...when the hell is my EKA Hunter Nordic W11 fixed blade gonna arrive?
