Default Pocket pistols? How about Rocket Pistols?

This is a very interesting piece.

If I know Kyrat, he has one or twenty of those stashed somewhere......

Impractical, but cool theories, thought processes and mechanics!

There are a couple youtube videos of one of these being fired. Even if they were never successful or practical they were pretty nifty.

Was a cool idea....I guess one of the knocks against it, was being a rocket powered......it took a distance/while to build up any speed.

It's like something that you would see a flash gordon knockoff using in a comic your great aunt bought you because she heard you like that kind of thing. Or a prop from a B movie.

In other words, awesome! I'm going to see if I can't dig up some videos of that in action

I think that is interesting. I'll bet the noise level will be much lower than conventional ammo. I wonder how difficult it would be to make the ammo? The trick is probably finding the right propellant. Model rocket fuel??? Accuracy could be improved with some little tail fins.

    It is quiet, watch this:

The very complicated and expensive ammo was the reason for the failure of the design.

The little bit of ammo that still exists sells for over $100 per round, so those guys on You tube are doing some very fancy and high priced "showing off" !!

You also have the problem that rockets work in reverse from normal bullets. Normal bullets start out at their top speed and slow down from the muzzle out.

Rocket rounds start off slow and build up speed.

The Gyrojet round was not effective until some considerable distance from the muzzle. Not good in a pistol round.

Not being familiar with them I had to look them up.
