    Default Just Animals

I should post a disclaimer here. I probably have more pictures of animal butts than anyone in the world. I don't know why it turns out that way but it does. Just as I'm ready to snap a pic they moon me. go figure. Here are a few and a few of I got of the heads when they thought I wasn't looking.

    Bison....

    Uinta Chipmunks...

These things had no fear of people at all. They have become so acclimated to people and associate them with food so they will run around your feet waiting for you to drop something. We ate lunch at Fairy Falls and my wife dropped a piece of trail mix. One of them grabbed it and sat between her feet and ate it. It just sat there waiting for more. I think they got the name because they say, Uinta feeding chipmunks?

The buffalo walking along the roadside like big furry commuters is probably the coolest thing I've seen all year.

Looks like the wildlife is used to having people around.

I seem to end up with headless animals. They put their heads down or look the other way when I snap the picture. Never ceases to amaze me how animals will tolerate us in their world.

We saw countless instances where bison walked down the road. They are not at all bashful about walking down the middle of the lane, crossing the road between stopped cars, just about anything they want. They are so accustomed to having vehicles around they aren't at all phased by them. The good news is we say several herds in the Lamar Valley that numbered around 50 or so. It gives you hope that they will rebound in a natural or sort of natural environment.

We saw one bull that had a piece of bright green spruce about a foot long tucked neatly between his horn and head. It was funny because we talked to a lot of folks that had seen the same bison. We figured he was celebrating Christmas early. My wife may have a pic of him on her phone. I still have to download those pics.
