My husband and I are looking to move to Alaska within the next year. Right now we are trying to sell our home in Northern Maine before we begin that journey. My husband, who is 62, lived in Alaska for several years, mostly the southern part, and has wanted to return for some time now; I have never even been to Alaska but am willing to give it a try. I am 55. Kids have grown, so we figured it was time to make that move before we really got to old to do so. My husband is retired so he will have a small pension. I will have to find employment. I am a social worker by profession but am open to other opportunities. I have no idea which part of Alaska I'd like to move to, but do not think I'd want to go above Fairbanks; I'm also fairly certain I do not want an outhouse...lol. My husband also loves to fish so some place near great fishing is a bonus. I joined this Forum to gain insight/education on the realities of what this new adventure may have in store for us. So let me thank every one ahead of time for what ever wisdom you wish to share.
