    Default Did you know...

How KA-BAR Got Its Name? Here ya go......

"Our name dates back to the early 1900's from a fur trapper testimonial. He wrote that while trapping, his gun jammed leaving him with only his knife to kill a wounded bear that was attacking him. He thanked us for making the quality knife that helped him to kill a bear, but all that was legible was "K a bar". Honored by the testimonial, the company adopted the phrase KA-BAR as their trademark."

    Huh, the more you know...
I still have my issue KABAR. Well used and abused, but still a great knife.
When all else fails, read the directions, and beware the Chihuahuacabra!

Well that pretty much solves that. Straight from the horses mouth.

The marine corps taught me wrong. They taught us that it was an acronym for (knife.assault,Browning, automatic, rifle) as in, they were issued to BAR operators since they could not mount a bayonet. The bayonet being issued otherwise.

Sounded good when I was 20

    Very true.

It wasn't so much that it sounded good, but more so that it was told to us as fact.
I'd still believe that ka-bar was an acronym rather than an illegible word in a short story. But if the manufacture says, then it must be so

That's the trick. It took my wife a few years to start calling BS on stuff I would make up and tell people. It is all in the presentation.
