    Default Blackout, anyone?

    Page 1 article of today’s WSJ begins…

“The US could suffer a coast-to-coast blackout if (bad guys) knocked out just nine of the country’s 55,000 electric-transmission substations… according to a previously unreported federal analysis”.

Went on to say “would be an event of unprecedented proportions” and “no federal rules require utilities to protect vital substations except those at nuclear power plants”.

    Who knew?

I did. The last "Die Hard" movie used that as part of the evil plot.

However, what they never say is that repairs could and will be made and in a relatively short time. 911 severed the power and data to the NYSE. On the face of it a crippling blow to the financial world. However, trading was suspended for four days and everything went back on line the following Monday because everyone knew what they were doing and no stone was left unturned to make it happen.
