Default First candy caps (Lactarius rubidus)

Funny. I feel stupid. The last month or two I've been getting in my car driving miles to hike for miles looking for candy caps after trying a beer infused with them at a local bar. I've noticed these orange mushrooms growing around my bamboo and ignored then every time. Today I looked closer and noticed. That's what they are dummy. I thought they were something else and ignored them because they were growing around bamboo and I knew they were mycorrhizal with oak. Not noticing the giant oak behind it.

Bummed I missed so many flushes but happy I found some before they're gone. And they grow right out my door. I literally stepped over them to go hunt them haha...

Small batch ready for the dehydrator. Smells amazing. Like maple syrup on steroids.

Nice photo. I've never seen these. There's not a lot of Oaks (Or Douglas fir) near me, they are usually in public parks etc. I pick a lot of Lactarious Deliciosus, due to them growing under pinus radiata.

I'd love to smell these ones.
