Shortening Powder

I ran into shortening powder in No. 10 cans advertised for longer term storage. I would appreciate hearing from anyone that has experience with this product. Thanks.

Storing oils has always been frustrating. I ran into shortening powder in No. 10 cans with an advertised 10 year unrefrigerated shelf life. I'm told it can be melted at low heat and used for shallow frying and substituted for any recipe calling for fat/lard/oil. I'm told it may change the taste/texture - but works.

I would appreciate hearing from anyone that has experience with this product. Thanks.
