Probably one of the most recognizable names in the firearms industry.

I wonder what his net worth would have been in a non-communist country.

He was a great firearms designer. I hear there are a few similarities to a Remington model 8.

He had a heck of a run, too! 94 years old. I read today that almost a fifth of all the firearms that exist on the planet are AK-47s! Probably the most successful firearm designed in the modern (cartridge & smokeless powder) era.

A fifth??? That's roughly 116,666,670, if we assume that the statistic "1 for every 12 people on the planet" from Lord of War was accurate.

    That's a lot of AKs
