    Default A quick walk

And I found a couple of edible mushrooms.

Amanita muscaria, Armillaria mellea, and about 50 pounds of the freshest nicest Pleurotus ostreatus i've ever seen.

I'm no expert, but that's a mighty long stem for Pleurotus ostreatus.

Just to be clear, Amanita Muscaria is considered toxic by most. With the appropriate processing it can be rendered safe (so I have read). Would you care to share with us how you process it Randy?

Cooking is how I convert the Ibotenic acid. Drying is also supposed to do it but I've never consumed a dried one. I read that you can boil and change th water to remove the ibonetic acid and muscimol. Never tried it. Eating one or two small ones is like having a couple beers. Oh and uhh don't try this at home. It can make you violently ill if you eat to much, are sensitive, cooked it wrong, it was rotten, or have had alcohol in the last day. Please no one run out and eat them.
