    Default Good Friends Son

I just found out my good friends son found himself in quite a predicament in NC Schools. Cost his Dad $11K, to fix it but he got tossed a full ride scholarship that more than offset it. He pleaded to a misdemeanor and was cleared of the felony charges. If he is anything like his Dad and I suspect he is, he is a good kid! Sometimes good things do happen!

Just one more example of common sense taking a back seat to zero tolerance. The school official that "overheard" him should be bull whipped. I'll bet all of the older members here have taken a gun to school on more than one occasion and did so on purpose. If you were going hunter after class you just tossed the gun in the car. If a cop happened to notice it the only thing he'd ask is what caliber if he even said anything. No school official ever said anything. There was never any reason to.

Our school administrators, and the education laws and rules of today, are a plague on our students.

Zero Tolerance should apply to stupid school officials.

Once again, Rick beat me to it while I was searching for the article I linked. I want a head start from now on - that would be politically correct, right?

If you search around you will find that the assistant principle had made the same mistake with a loaded firearm within a year previous to my friends son. She received a 3 day suspension! No charges filed! I was told by my friend that his son did have to agree to saying he knew the gun was in the truck when he came to school in order for the prosecutor to drop the felony charges. In a way I was glad for my friend, he was working hard to send a second child to college, the attention is what netted the scholarship. Lot's of positive attention surrounded the case, his son even aired with (Glenn Beck).

Even MADD supported the school on Erin. What poppycock. We should start Common Sense University where school officials must take mandatory classes. Each time they forget something in class or do something right we'll have them arrested.

CS - I'm glad it worked out for the young man it's just a shame he had to go through all the nonsense.

That guilty plea to a misdemeanor will come back to haunt him.

Maybe he should see about getting his record expunged?

It was suggested that an adult should have been contacted. Any adult that was there would have been arrested, too.

I'm not sure that he can. Records generally can't be expunged in Massachusetts except in cases where a mistake occurred and the wrong person was named as a defendant.

Let me get this straight.....The lawyer didn't get him off and STILL got $11K?

    "That's a pretty crappy weld!"
    "Yeah, but it's still $11k."

"My car still has that squeek in it."
    "Yeah but we removed $11k."

"The sewer is still backed up!"
"Yeak but we pulled out $11K."

What is wrong with this picture?

Well duh! You're still practicing. Once you figure it out you can charge more.

No, kiddin' that's what it cost! When my friend told me...I asked well how much would the full ride to Liberty cost? He just grinned!

I'd have asked how much if he just spends a month in jail? that might have gotten him down to $7k.

With all due respect, I don't believe that for a minute!
