Thread: Expired Water Rations

    Default Expired Water Rations

I'm hoping this was not already answered somewhere and I just couldn't find it with my searching. If it was I apologize for creating a redundant thread.

Anyhow, my sister recently acquired some boxes of 'Emergency Puridfied Drinking Water' from her school that were to be thrown out. The MFG date on them is 01/02 and the Exp. Date was 12/06. So yes by those instructions the things should be pitched. But it seems a waste.

So I'm wondering if the water can still be used safely in the future either straight from the bag or after some boiling and/or filtering.

    Thanks for any replies.

Here’s a news article that says the dates are more of a precaution in case something happened during the packaging process and that purified, distilled and spring water will not expire.

Here’s a link to an FDA Q&A where they consider bottled water to have an indefinite shelf life.

Before you expire, how about floating over to the introductions and tell us a bit about yourself.

Just make certain there are no additives in the water.
