Default Stuff That's Hard To Come By These Days

There were lots of items and products out there that you'll have a hard time finding these days.

I still have a couple of dozen quart sized GLASS soda bottles, and GLASS mayo jars and other jars, a few dozen GLASS quart and 1/2 gallon milk bottles, and maybe about 100 METAL coffee cans (1 and 3 lb. sizes) all wrapped up in the basement. I also have 3 cans of Glass Wax in the house, as well as cases of incandescent bulbs that I prefer over anything else on the market.

Is there anything out there that anyone is beginning to collect because it may disappear from store shelves?

One thing I'd suggest people stock up on are replacement bulbs if you have a "can't do without it" non-LED flashlight.

I recently stocked up on ribbons for my IBM Selectric III typewriter. Yes, I still use it for filling out some forms that can't be done on-line.

AND!!!! I recently had a friend order me a case of ST-37 antiseptic (it works great, it NEVER stings, and little kids don't mind it on small cuts). It was a common item in pharmacies 20 years ago. Now, it has to be special ordered.

I also had him order me a half dozen hot water bottles. Same thing - you can't find a decent one in any store anywhere.

I stock up on pseudophedrine. Everytime I walk into a store, it gets harder and harder to get. I also have a bunch of mercury thermometers. They don't expire, no batteries to replace, etc. I don't use them though. Just a back up to the couple of digital ones. I also keep a few large tubes of dielectric grease. Auto stores only sell the little packets and hardware stores have done away with it. I get the big tubes at an electric supply place, the last place I could find it.

I don't know if you can buy bulk any more......
Buddy had a gas station....we would dump out the old acid, wash out and add fresh acid....and they worked fine for quite a while.

I used to buy bulk sulfuric acid by the tanker full for a electro planting operation......don't think it was the same strength.

The last batch I got, I think were defective. Either that, or they were playing symantics because you could strike them any where. They just wouldn't ignite.....

I converted to the Gillette Fusion and it's the greatest thing since sliced bread and drop seat underwear combined. Expensive but my little baby face no longer takes a mutilation when I shave. It's da berries.
