Default Shiitake mushrooms....the "stick" has produced.

Last year while at a farmers market I bought a Shiitake mushroom log....DW called it a "stick"...LOL.
Took it back and soaked it for a few days, then put in in the woods.

Last year didn't see any mushrooms at all, there had been a couple but I missed them....just dried up 'shrooms" left.

Checked it today...and the "stick" had a few fresh ones ready to pick.

Last log lasted a few years....so maybe next year will get some more.

They sure look good, though this is neither foraged nor wild. More of a gardening post, when you're deliberately growing something which is a millennium domesticated.

Guess I never gave it a thought, as to the proper category.
Mods please move if this thread is a problem.

I think it's appropriate in either location.

Yeah, well, things have gotten a little persnickety around here lately......and would not have looked so "wild" if they were in my basement.

Fact is, I really just wanted to pass along a bit of "boots in the field" good fortune, be it planned (they don't always produce) or not.
    Oh well.........

It's really just a side-point to how nifty having your own fresh shiitake is anyway.

I just didn't want to be accused of taking a shiitake and moving it.
