    Default Alaska Road Trip--I'm Home!

Just pulled into Anchorage, heading to Girdwood in the morning after a FABULUS....omg....road trip from Idaho thru Canada.

Weather was perfect, colors at their peak. The only precipitation was Haines Juntion to Beaver Creek, about 2 hours of light rain.

Barely any road construction, which I went through on the weekend, so no issues or delays. All paved, all!

No snow. Saw one griz walking along the shoulder, like he was looking for loose change. Saw 4 black bear, slept two nights in my Geo, one night at a resort "work for stay" free bed in exchange for two hours cooking in the morning (they just lost a cook)

getting across the border was telling : agent asked if I carried any form of self defense. I said no, totally forgetting I had an axe for camping. But, no guns, no mace, no pepper spray. Gas was 1.33 per liter, making it about $5.50 a gallon. Didn't need a gas can, didn't carry one. Gas available every 250 miles.

ok, more info to follow, if anyone cares, and I'll post on my blog...

Loving Alaska, Why didn't anyone mention how gorgeous Glacier View was??/

Glad you made it to Alaska safely and without any problems. Hope your stay there is pleasant and rewarding. I imagine it is quite beautiful there now.

Thanks for believing! Yes, the poor Car is getting rained on now, will be gently washed and rewarded with tender care and some days off! The bike is locked up under the staircase, until days off and mud races resume.

Thanks Desert Rat, it was very good.
