Default Outdoor Activity Plan in MSWord

We talk a lot about leaving a travel plan with a trusted acquaintance in case SAR needs to be called. Here's one in Word I put together. Feel free to use it if you like. It's based on one that AdventureSmart had put together. I use the space below the signature line on the second page to add local police, state police or ranger telephone numbers so whoever is holding the plan will know who to contact and how to contact them. Any of it can be changed to suit your specifics. For example, if the purpose of your trip is not listed then just change one of the selections to whatever your trip is for. Same for equipment/supplies. If you need to add something that isn't listed just type it in. If you carry a radio then you might want to list the channel you monitor so SAR will know how to contact you once in range.

Thanks Rick. This is something that I need to do. I have always been confident in my abilities, (Most likely just lucky). I printed off a copy.

I leave one with my wife or daughter every time I go out. It goes to one of my sons if my daughter happens to go with us. It's like everything else. The best case scenario is I wasted my time putting it together, which I don't mind at all.

It's not stealing since he putit up freely and encourages people to use it.....but I knew what you meant. It is a good tool. I hope a lot of people use it.

Another good one. Any information left with a reliable person is good stuff if something goes south while you're out.

If you get home early....be sure to let everyone know...
Had a guy get lost deer hunting......we looked everywhere for him.....
He was back at the cabin sleeping....he found a road, hitchhiked back...and didn't say anything.(before cell phones)...but his car was at the cabin...he could have let us know.

I remember them from a long time ago but have not heard anything mentioned about them until now.

Usually when I tell someone to "go take a hike" I don't care where they go or if they come back!

I remember the first time I ever used a SPOT. We were doing a week long backpacking trip to the highest point in Utah. We were also taking scouts. The other leader had a friend who had a spot. The friend let us rent it from him (pay him for the week of use). We set it up to send an email to a select number of people whenever we pushed the OK button. We planned to push it once a day when we got to a new camp, and we did. When I got home, my wife (one of the people to get emails) said she didn't get an email every day. She did eventually get all the emails we sent, but the last one was about 2 weeks after we got home.
I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.
