Default Pike River Rendezvous, in Kenosha WI, is coming up August 2,3,4

The Pike River Rendezvous, in Kenosha WI, is coming up August 2,3,4...Down on Simmon's Island on the shore of Lake Michigan.

I know there aren't too many people around that might want to attend, except WI_Woodsman.....but I Though I would post a heads up any way.
Mostly a "demonstration rendezvous, with people doing old time tasks, fire starting, weaving and processing linen for flax, knapping, dug out canoes, and general camp life...cira 1700's to mountain man days...1840's.
Not just surviving, but living in the way it was done.

Venders for primitive gear, geefauws, and food will be available.

I will be attending and camping,.... demonstrating for the Kenosha Archeological Society.....artifacts from digs in the area, and several collection of found points and tools.

Pack mule loaded up (truck and trailer, LOL)....most likely setting up tomorrow if it don't rain too hard.

    Home Sweet home

Wow been a year already. Say Hey to Naomi and Lisle, John and Diane Sautter. To those that are in the Kenosha area, this is a fun event with a lot of great folks to meet.

Karl, will do....not gonna bring any trade goods this year...so will have some more time to visit.

I take it you won't be in the area this year?.......

Couple of guys from another forum are attending that are from this area....they need to be careful, it can be a slippery slope.

Started with a rifle and a hat in the mid 1980's....ended up with several whole camps.......LOL

No can't be there. That slope is slippery. It starts out slow. Then you find yourself buying a larger car to truck to haul your stuff.

In fact I was under canvas today, not quite the event I would prefer. The dining fly keeps the rain off while doing car repairs.

Returned back to the present day....from the 1820's in the time machine/pack mule (F-250/trailer).......Been fighting Win 8 and Photo bucket.....So got a few pic's to post.

Starting with the set up of the lodge.........
Lay out ridge boards for lodge and kitchen fly....lay out side poles, ropes and stakes.

Add uprights for main ridge poles.....

Actually, I'm pretty glad I don't have to build my home each night. But it looks like you had fun!!

Karl they were there, at least their lodge was.....but spent a lot of time at my lodge with the Archeological Society, so didn't get a chance to talk to them......

I really need to start taking more pic's.....watched a guy making wooded shoes.....made out of frozen Aspen, as it's still50% water...thought that was interesting......
