The trick will be finding some Teflon rocks to prevent the Béarnaise sauce from sticking on the bottom.

I have tried several of these.....
Bread on a stick...
Taters and cattail roots in the coals..
Fish in clay mud....
Eggs in the coals.
Meat on a stick, everyone has done this.
Cool site, thanks.

The one I hadn't thought of or heard of was, the bamboo steamer.
A couple other sections in that site was the cordage and meat section. The birch glue was good. I just don't know about the earth worm meat loaf recipe.
Speaking of which: what animals in North America (or its waters) are good for getting oils, either for putting in soaps or fueling lanterns, or else for cooking? Not including bears of course. I know they are mighty greasy, but I'm too much of a wuss to hunt one even if I have a gun. Just not going to do it.

I guess I don't need oil that badly.

Oil can be obtained from plants as well as animals.
I have only rendered oil from coconuts. But, there are a lot of plants. Coco plum and hog plum come to mind.
All animals have fat that can be rendered. Hogs are slap full of it. Deer have fat called tallow. Alligator meat must have all of its fat cut off before cooking or it taste like carp.
I have never rendered fish oil.
Raccoon and opossum both have lots of fat just below the skin.
