Default Any one have experience with This Tent

    Texsport Hexagon Tent

Looking for a smaller 3 person tent and this seems to fit that just right enough for me and my 3 kids to bed down for the night in the back yard, and maybe durable enough to take out in the field. I wonder about durability and quality more than comfort. I really like the hex design as all my kids are short than me and I can shove em in the corners when we sleep so don't mind being "Close".

It has a bikini fly and is made by texsport. It will work for the backyard. But, when it rains, you might be running inside.

As for durability and quality.....lets just say there aren't many tents that are worse.

I have couple that look like that, but with more windows as ground blinds.......they are not water proof, and not real big.
Doesn't say if it has a floor or not.

I would suggest reading the reviews on the same page.

I don't know what your price range is but look at the Coleman Montana. It's actually a 6 person tent but 4-5 are just fine. I have one for the grand kids and so far it has worked fine and stayed dry. I haven't been in a downpour but have been in rain.

The Coleman Montana 6 is only a dollar less than the Coleman Montana 8 on Amazon and quite a bit cheaper than buying it direct from the Coleman company, not to mention the free shipping:

That is way more then I need I really am looking for a smallish 3 person tent. Would it be best to go with a Coleman? I would also require the tent to be rain proof to a point.

    edit:

    This looks interesting

If you scroll down to the bottom of the page you can read the reviews. This seems to be the type you're looking for, however, an extra tarp to go over the top and some tent pegs to hold it in place can improve the "water proofing"....

    Here is my recommendation.
    http://www.amazon.com/Ledge-Sports-R...s=recluse+tent
I have bought 4 for my scout troop. It fits three boys, or 2.5 men. It can take a decent wind/snow load, with the three aluminum poles. I don't buy tents with fiberglass poles anymore.

Dwarf is so un PC, he meant to say Deep Man.

But why would you want half of a corpse stinking up your tent?

So is this more of a reference to that TV show? So two grown men and a preteen?

    (Ty for the suggestion btw)

What I meant was, two full grown men, and then cut a 3rd in half. Three REALLY good friends might fit, without any of their stuff. I have fit three small kids and a big dog in there as well.

I was given the Coleman Hooligan 2 for Father's day, Arrived today, DW saw it in my amazon cart and ordered it for me.
Did a back yard camping / cookout day and it held up well enough to my three little ones. I didn't set it up with the fly but I did put in an order for the MSR groundhogs because the "Stakes" it comes with are a joke. Those and some tyvek as a footprint and I think this would make a very good Backpacking tent will have to try it out as it is a bit heavier but it does seem sturdy. I would have to weigh it because rolled up and tied off it seemed a decent weight but I'm a big guy so 6lbs might translate a whole lot differently for me than a smaller person.

Me, DW, my 8yr 3 yr and 2 yr olds close, snug as bugs. But we all fit. Its the size of a queen mattress takes some working but everyone can bed down for the night.

Edit: Also with the Fly you get a decent little vestibule area on top of the spacious interior, truth be told It is a 3 man tent. I could live with this exact same setup a 1/3 smaller and be happy for 2 people.

I bought one when I changed over from line company to headquarters company. Used it for several years, it did a fine job.

A bikini fly only covers part of the tent, not the whole tent. It is a sure sign of a cheap tent.
