Lots of good information....particularly if you bike a lot, and have experience.

So like anything if you are planning on a bike for Bug out....start now and practice......Now
If you have to ask about it,....and consider it a legitimate option.... you are starting at the beginning...exactly the right way to start.

I often use rail tracks for getting to good fishing holes but am always hoofing it. Many times I thought it would be neat to have one of those bicycles with the attachable outrigger for riding the rails.

i am saveing up for a motor for my mountain bike. not only a awsome backup to a regular vehicle in a emergency. keep it on a bike rack if youre vehicle breaks or cant continue do to obstructions it beats walking. No insurance or registration fee make it a inexpensive alternative to traditional transport. also check out load carrying bikes.

I race mountain bikes and I can tell you that bike tires last about 600-700 miles. I've ridden kenda small block 8's, Kenda nevagalls, specialized s works line (all of them) , and Hans damp tires. I've ridden them until the point where the sidewall is to thin. Keep in mind while the tread may last a long time, the sidewalls will give and have rips at about 700 miles.

I have a 2 cycle gas motor on my mountain bike........works great when things are smooth.....not so great when they are not.....still a lot of fun.......it will go faster than I want to ride it wide open.

Whoever invented the bicycle seat must surely have been a masochist.
