Default The WRONG Attitude - "Camping Is for Idiots"

A humorous opinion from someone with the WRONG ATTITUDE.

Sounds like one of my friends' husband.

He refused to go camping. He said he worked really hard at a job he didn't like just so he could live indoors so he wasn't going to spend more money to sleep outside.

I can understand that it's not for everyone. I can understand why someone may not enjoy it. I can't understand why denigrate those who do.

At first I thought it was satirical.....but I'm thinking it was serious.

Thank God no one will have to put up with them, again...out there.....

I kinda like the article. It shows that if you try and do something with no knowledge and preparation, you will hate it. Kinda like buying a video game system and not paying the power bill, or riding a bike with flat tires.

Besides, maybe the author will convince others that camping sucks. That is a win-win in my book. That means less people when I go camping.

Camping is all about planning and preparation. Sure if you are half drunk or stoned and decide after a concert to sleep in the woods it will be miserable. I enjoy camping. I sleep well, enjoy the outdoors, and eat better tasting food. In all the years I've been camping I've only had two bad experiences. One time I got the flu so I was miserable. Not the fault of the outdoors. It just happened. Another time it rained so hard I thought I was in the jungles. It rained so hard and the wind blew so hard we couldn't get our propane stoves to stay lit and the tents were soaked inside. Still it was a beautiful location and I saw my first every salamander so it wasn't a total loss. Otherwise it's hard to beat camping for stress relief.

As they say different strokes for different folks. As in many things in life camping is what you want to make of it. If you think it is going to be miserable then it will be before you even get to the camp.

Are these the ones they call sheeple?

Perhaps I have a strange opinion to some, but I consider these people staying home a blessing. I do not have to put up with them on the trail or in the campground.

they keep the cost of camping and surplus gear low by decreasing demand.

It has also insured that my boss would never run into me out in the woods on those fake sick days I used to call in.

In a SHTF situation I will not have to put up with them soon after they realize no one is coming to save them. They will be among the "2 days without water" victims or the ones standing on their roof waiting for the helicopter that never comes.

In general, as a hard hearted old ba$^@*d I hope they stay home and tweet each other about their opinion.
