Thread: Survival Vest

    Default Survival Vest

8 hours of building up survival vest and keep thinking of what I would want in it besides what is required by the Navy.
Here is a list of the contents:
    4oz bagged water
    SDU-39 strobe
    Sidewinder flashlight
    Mirror
    Whistle
    Hook blade knife
Folder knife( gerber, two different benchmades or a spyderco pacific salt)RC-90 RADIO

I have been a Aircrew Survival Equipmentman for 13 years in the Navy and
going on 2 as a civilian. I have always thought a firestarter should be on that list. Granted the aircrewman can add up to 5 pounds of additional gear. What do you think should be considered standard?

The pics I posted are essentials anywhere. Other than that, where and when are you planning for?

I'm sure that you realize that, second to drowning, hypothermia can kill you quite fast. So.... would a survival suit be a better option for you?
