    Like some rocks, I've heard that concrete can explode if it gets too hot.

    Yes, concrete & cinder block can "pop" if under too much heat... However from previous experience Ive found in the fashion I am utilizing it, it will simply get brittle and "fall apart".

    Im certain if kept IN the fire, and fire was BIG enough, it *may* "pop". Been using cinder block for a while for elevating over fire, have yet to have a problem... just failure over time is all.
