Default Took A Break On The Way Home

I was in Tallahassee for meetings all day. I usually avoid the interstates on the way home, just to slow down and relax. Stopped along the Suwanee River on the way back. About half the hike was cloudy and over cast, but the entire walk was relaxing and worth the stop.

This reminded me of an elephant trunk with two small tusks.

Great pics Crash! I love all the Spanish moss, very cool. What were the tracks made by? From the pics, they look pretty large.

Deer, raccoon and some sort of canine - I'm guessing dog on a leash - there is a campground a mile or two from where I found them.

There were some really old Bald Cypress trees (or Baldcypress if you prefer). A few of them were in excess of 12 feet in diameter at the base.

What is that one tree with the fascinating bark? And yes, I too love the moss.

I had to do a double take, and ask 'what are those when I first saw cypress knees in Louisiana.
What made it odd was we were walking on dry ground...seems the water was way down...and had no idea what they were.

Really cool trees, wouldn't take much to let your imagination run wild on a foggy day.

You are probably referring to the Persimmon Tree - the one with the checkered looking bark.
