Heck yeah. Lots of ways to use the horn...whole or split.

Here are a few knives I made handles from Rams Horn, you can sand the outside off and get a nice translucent handle or leave a little on for some texture.

    here is a smooth finish

Hello I love the knives they are very cool . Can You tell me please , do you treat , heat , boil or other prior to sanding as I've seen someone holding a slab of rams horn over a forge for a few secs before cutting to size . And have no idea why ? .

Not me, I just sand them to shape, slowly because the stuff will melt on you if you do not watch out. Not sure what the boiling is for but I would be interested if someone has some information.

Sylvan Hart made a 22 short single shot pistol using either a rams horn or goat horn for the stock.

The only time that I've seen horns heated or boiled was to flatten them a bit in a press. I've done that with armadillo hide.

Cow horn are sometimes put in hot water to make pliable, so big end can either be flattened, made round, or whatever.....used when making powder horns....
