Knife Making Tip

Here's an experiment I did to attempt to anneal the tang of a knife without changing the temper of the blade. This might come in handy for a repair you are doing, or as in the video - you need to drill hardened steel and don't have an oven to heat treat.

This may be a common thing for those of you that work with steel or weld, but it was sort of a trial and error thing for me. Seems to work........and no.......this does not make me an expert because I made a video.......maybe if I had a blog too??? bazinga

A water soaked rag works for me when welding. You might want to give it a try. Good video!

Plus one on the wet rag, works for soldering, as well as welding.

There are numerous heat paste etc products out there. I've used that material you used with a lot of success.

that's kewl, it would come in handy for those grind and dip saw blade knives.

I can drill through the saw blades pretty easily, but these planer blades are a definite no go for me.
