I'm bugging out to Northern Ontario. I figure it'll take me 20 days to get there. My bag weighs 300 pounds. Haven't figured that out yet but I'm working on it. If that guy turns out to be a serial killer I'm gonna be ticked.

I always been fascinated by houseboats. When I get rich, I might build one that can have a produce garden on it and fishing gear. Hehe.

That has not been my experience for the "house boats" I have lived on.

That's funny, I was about to post something like that...since your vid didn't take, maybe this is the one? Or not...

And that's even funnier...looks like my vid won't take either. Might mean it's the same one, and it's on some setting that doesn't let it be posted.

Well, what do you know....This vid actually played ..my You Tube is touchy lately.

I will say that was a pretty cool vid and great idea.....kind f reminds me of all the alternate housing and building of the '70's and '80's

Wonder how it hold up in rough water?

    Thanks for posting.

That thing does not even have any "short term integrity"! It is falling apart right under his feet.

I was wondering how long the water bottles last. What kind of bottles...different kinds of plastic. Says the roots go in among them. Better keep replenishing those bottles.

But then again, hey, that's the point? Can easily keep refurbishing things. I'd say get some serious floatation and structure, but that might not be recycling and free. Keep maintenance and evolution, could do alright. No?

I tell ya...when I get rich, my survival houseboat's gonna be so cool. China did it, why can't I? Oh wait, their's isn't floating is it?

Was a Reality show on here awhile back...Ice Lake Rebels.....around Yellow Knife on the Great Slave Lake...
Want to go to the Great White North?.....Here ya go.

    http://www.wapawekka.com/ice-lake-re...ay-houseboats/

Kinda cool as they deal with ice possibly wreaking their "houses'.

I you look up Yellow Knife on Google Maps....you can make out the house boats....lots of them.

Actually a lot of house boat communities all over...some even have gardens on rafts.

We build our BOL just 150 meters from our farmhouse. Hidden by a wall and in the future the trees will be so big that it's impossible to see the building.
And now I find out that I can't post any pictures here... something with "exceeds" in it, but my pictures are no bigger than 90 kb....Help...?

Are you trying to upload the picture or are you using a photo service? If you are trying to upload the picture then you will see a box that tells you how large the picture can be by file type. My guess is you have exceeded the file size for that type of file (bmp., jpg, gif, etc.). You might also trying resizing your photo to something like 640 X 400. Knowing what the error message is would help.

I get an alert box saying "2.jpg: Exceeds your quota by 37.4 kB" followed by the HTML codes for a link "Click here to see your attachments" which cannot be clicked because it is shown as text in the alert box.

I am not a big fan of the whole "Bug Out" concept. Having said that I think it is very smart to discuss "rally points" and "sheltered areas" that may be a possible location if you absolutely have no choice about abandoning your residence. I have a very hard time creating a scenario that makes "Bugging Out" feasible/reasonable.
