    Default Hammock makiing

As anyone made a net Hammock using paracord? If so how many "squares across the top and about how wide. I made one and it is to narrow to lay on. And another question, is there a way to add onto the width of this afer it has already been finished off.
    thanks

How much paracord did you use so far to make the hammock? It seems to me that would take a lot and be a bit heavy.

It's not that heavy and it can be pulled from each end so that it is stretched tight for handling, then put into a nylon bag.
I have used MAYBE 200 ft. of 550 cord. the hammock don't weigh anymore than the 2 bundles. but i need to add a few more rows to the sides to make it a little wider. and i don't have that figured out yet. If anyone has an idea please post.
    thanks

Making a hammock is like sewing a net. Same idea. Lanyards can be added to each end and tied into a metal ring or such

Here is how to make a netted hammock using the sheet bend, the traditional fisherman's method. I use a 2" wide gauge.
    http://www.earthguild.com/products/riff/rhammock.htm

To make an existing hammock wider weave a support cord through the long side meshes of either side of your hammock. Tie the ends of the support cord and begin netting into the long side meshes of the other side.

If you have made your hammock using the macrame method (several cords tied together in pairs) and are not familiar with traditional net making, here are basic instructuions.

If you try this again I would suggest using a static line Bank line or something similar, paracord will stretch out & by morning your but will be in the dirt.
