Thread: TechQ: SATA controller...

    Default TechQ: SATA controller...

We really need a Technical section on the forum IMHO, but until then... Here goes.

Ive got a MoBo that has one bad SATA interface, and... one good one.

If I disable the on board SATA and install a SATA card, will the computer boot off that??

Ive yet again, been bitten by the Bit Devil and lost another boot drive. Id like to put a pair of matched drives on a new interface and run RAID so if one goes bad I can just replace it and not lose all my data... which I worked like a dog to install in the first place. BTW, Win7 Ultimate is the OS.

    Thanks for your time,
    Andrew

Any reason to not just replace the Motherboard?

I'd get another board with raid built in.

Strapped for cash, I can get a SATA board shipped for less than $20... I cant get a new mobo Id trust for that much.

    Thanks for the advice anyway...
