    Default Cold's coming.

I do not like -60. Not at all. I'm not a scardy type of girl but -60 is pretty scary. -40 sucks but you can still function and you can still drive if you have had your vehicle plugged in. At -60 metal things break pretty often, tires go flat or are square. Good thing I have weekends off!

Look at what's happening tomorrow night! Yikes.

Looks like you've got a regular heatwave coming on Sunday.

I've been thinking it was Thurs. all day. Here is the link. From weatherunderground.com Zip code 99701 or Fairbanks, AK or Ester, AK 99725 which is where I live closer to.

Ok now this is just getting plumb crazy! We normally have very little wind but at these temps, it doesn't take much. I don't believe I have ever seen -78!

Going outside would be like a moon walk.
I remember -40, and it did not thrill me.

We are OFTEN colder then Barrow. In general, inland locations anywhere will be colder then coastal areas. It's -40 right now. I don't think it's going to get to -60 but it could. Last night or the night before, it dropped 20 in a bit over an hour. Yea, the 100 ft. higher location would be warmer due to inversion. The extreme cold settles in the low areas. I'll watch my gauge on the porch. I'm heating water right now to throw and will video it. It does it just fine in this temp.

Oh yea, Anchorage is almost 400 miles SOUTH of me. They never really see the extreme temperatures that the Interior does.

I guess my water wasn't hot enough. I'll try again tomorrow night. Currently it's 11:18. It's -42. I'm at about 500' elevation so a bit higher then town (Fairbanks).

SJ, check Youtube for a Weather Channel story on a guy in Russia doing just that. He threw it off a high rise balcony and it was snow before it hit the ground.

Here's where I did it a couple of years ago, no high rise needed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_len...ttFJzJQz8G8z0w

Eh, I think it only got to -45 last night. Of course, my gauge may be stuck at -40 because that's what it is reading right now, still.

Hahhaha I don't know how cold it got last night but apparently it got cold enough to break the time and temp sign at the airport.

Well it is cold here, snowing, and the wind is blowing like crazy. I think we are going to stay in bed all day and wait for the end of the world to get here

We're going to have our coldest temps so far tonight - probably summer by your standards, but looking forward to 20's.
