Thread: A REALLY sharp knife...

    Default A REALLY sharp knife...

Being a life long outdoorsman, very mechanically inclined & a tool/die machinist- I've had knife sharpening down for quite a while. but I heard of a new challenge.

It's one thing to lay a knife on the skin and ease it down and watch the hair cut. However... can it "air shave." That is rake your hand back and forth over the hairy section and fluff up the hair. Then ease the edge of the knife through the hair, WITHOUT touching the skin and see if the knife cuts them, or you can at least feel the knife grabbing at the hairs. REALLY COOL.

    A well tuned Mora will!

We knife geeks call it "tree-topping" hair. A kitchen knife should be able to do it FOTS, especially after a strop on balsa wood or kangaroo leather.
