Question Earth Worms... How do I get the crud out?

Hey, I am trying to make some earth worms edible. I left them in a can with some wet paper towel overnight, but most of them still had 'crud' inside them.
I tried putting a couple in salt, but though they poop out some of the 'crud', they die way too fast to get it all out, and the same thing happened with vinegar.
When I tried squeezing them, they broke in half and when I squeezed the halves they broke in half again...
How in the world do you get the crud out of earth worms...

Any suggestions are welcome, as I have plenty of worms to test them on!

Dude, just eat them man. If you're that squeemish, don't eat 'em.
Just rinse them off and swallow them whole.

    Hunter63 saying Hey and Welcome.

I guess the only worms I've ever seen eaten were sorta 'as is".....the "soaking in salt water", and 'gutting then out first", or even the "flush out feeding of corn meal" (catfish)....don't seem to be working for ya.

    Maybe a little hot sauce?

Mix some good topsoil with EXLAX, and let them live in that soil for 2 days!

The corn meal idea might be a solution... And hot sauce too. I got them from a 'swamp'-ish place so I don't know how healthy 'as is' would be. I'll go try the new ideas right now!

Uh, why? (That was to short so) why in the world would anyone want to eat an earthworm when there's perfectly good grubs, grasshoppers, and jube jubes lying around everywhere.

First of all, I eat grasshoppers all the time. Second of all, what is a 'jube jube'? Third of all... You don't have to run around looking for earth worms... Just find a good spot, put some boards on the ground there, and wait for a good rain.

On a second note, the ones in salt water wiggled for half an hour and died... lost a little crud, but not all of it. I put some in rice flour (couldn't find corn meal) and then ran out of worms.
My worm farm was 'dry' so I didn't find any new ones. Have to wait for some rain.

Boil them in water. 5 min or so is fine, they will plump up nicly. Then give them a firm, but not too firm, squeeze. Then fry them up in a little butter.

This is from one of the worm recipes that I found.
Place live worms in damp cornmeal for 24 hours to purify
There are several recipes here http://www.eattheweeds.com/cooking-with-earthworms-2/

Something tells me that substituting the word bacon where is says worm might work.

    Yeah........Bacon!
    Oysters work too.

Jube Jubes are hard jellybean-like candies. They can be found all over the place after a bunch of kids have been around. Watch out for the tiny round ones, They're little pellets from small toy guns. They don't digest very well.

The best way to make worms edible is to smear them with a little peanut butter . . . Jif if you're choosy.

Yeah, and the Jube Jubes with dirt on one side are the ones that got licked and thrown down 'cause they didn't like 'em.

There is something the matter with a person that can not "find any cornmeal" in North Carolina! I know for a fact that every corner store in NC has at least three brands of corn meal. I also know that only one home out of 10,000 in that area would have "rice flour" on hand.

Sorry folks, worms are not food, worms are what you use as bait to get food.

    Same old saying:

Eat a dozen worms and make one man puke all night. Catch a dozen fish and feed a family.
If you didn't bring jerky what did I just eat?
