    Default Need help, now!

Several months ago I got bit by the prepper's bug. At least, I thought it was a bug, now I'm beginning to think it's a full-blown viral attack. I started by buying a BK2, then I got a Mora, a month later I saw a SOG Field Pup and just had to have it. Today I got my second Mora in the mail, and an Opinel 6. I played with the Opinel a while and decided I couldn't live without an Opinel 8.

How do I make this stop? Please advise on the best available cure.

I am not a doctor and I do not play a doctor on TV, however I do not think you have the prepper bug, I think you are a knife freak. Who am I to judge I own two BK-2 and two boxes of knives.

I think you are only partly right . . . I also have a BOB for me and one for my wife, an emergency pack in my truck, my standard camping pack, and two fanny packs (one for me, one for her). All have been stocked with supplies in just the past three months. However, I really do like knives.

I completed replaced everything this summer. In fact I have a new molle bag sitting here, waiting for clips, flashlight pouch and gadget pouch. Just got my new water purifier, and my biolight stove is on the way. Knives...2 Moras, Camillus Mt, an opinel, SOG...Gerber...oh, forget about it.
I NEVER wear camo...that's coming too.
Hope that you run out of ideas...

Recognise that you have no power over this addiction. You can not stop it, you can only divert it to other items.

You have enough knives to hold you for a while, start scanning for guns online and after you have two each rifle/pistol/shotgun you can transfer to sleep systems, then tents. You will also need to start collecting all the pork and beans, canned chili and beenie weinies you can find! And toilet paper, cases of toilet paper.

In about two years you can consider yourself a prepper.
If you didn't bring jerky what did I just eat?

Yea, you might as well take out a second mortgage and get it all now. Then start working on the secondary position.

Stiffy - You've come to the right place. It just so happens I am an expert at hipto....hippo....hypna....making you sleep. I will be happy to work with your subconscious to send all your prepping gear to me. It won't solve the problem but the gear won't be in sight so you won't have to fret about it. You're happy, I'm happy, sounds like a win/win more to me.

I just purchased an Esee 4...you know, that really ugly green and orange one thay I have been coveting since I first saw it.
They dangled that unheard of price in front of me, and I was putty in their hands...

Then you hear the old refrain...."I wish had enough money for 5 acres...wait, no, make that 10, or 20....but I have so many knives and axes I can't afford it....." (in a wailing voice......)

Problem is the UPS guy only knows how to drop stuff off at my place. He might have a stroke if I tried to send something out.

Well we wouldn't want that to happen. Rick would be distraught for a long time, and that just ain't right. Better break the UPS guy in slowly by sending me those knives.....he'll understand.

For now I think I'll wait, at least until my collection has been enhanced by a few more selections. Just need to get one (maybe two) of those Esee things, an SK5, probably at least one Cold Steel, maybe a Gerber if I'm a little low on cash, a Buck 119 to replace the one I had thirty years ago and somehow lost, oh, and I used to have a Schrade Old Timer, don't know what happened to that, but I'm sure I could find a use for it. And a Seal Pup would look pretty nice next to my Field Pup.

I'll let you know as soon as I'm ready to start reversing the flow.

About a year ago, I replaced the Buck 119 that I lost somewhere in the move to WI.
I bought the first one when I was 15...my Dad was along...

When I was a kid, I lost the first good quality knife that I ever bought in a giant pile of pallets, Schrade Uncle Henry. 30-some years later, and I still occasionally think about that knife.....
