Thread: My Remington 870

    Default My Remington 870

I have been looking on the forums for a Remington 870 for a long time and finally pulled the trigger on buying one. (No pun intended)

I am very well pleased with this shotgun and the person I dealt with was a great guy. Probably end up hunting together in the future. This is a classic 12 gauge pump. Mine came with a turkey choke which was my main purpose for the purchase. A 28" barrel with the vent rib. It looks and feels great. Hard to beat the sound of a pump shotgun. Watch and see my newest addition.

Welcome to a fairly large club. Mine started with a 30" full choke barrel for hunting when my Father gave me his when he couldn't hunt anymore. A real step up from my Stevens single shot he bought for me when I was born. I then I added a 28" Modified and a 20" shorty.

Now, I can't use it in shoulder mode (seven right shoulder surgeries and the other is going), so I'm just using the 20" for home defense with a pistol grip. I chose the 20" barrel to accommodate an eight round magazine extension and didn't want it extending past the end of the barrel (which it would have for an 18"-er). I have an 870 in .410 that I can use for hunting when needed (don't get out much anymore). Oh, there is some stress in the OGI household, my Bride has and prefers a Mossie 500 in .410 - oh the shame!!!!!

Great purchase! I have a Wingmaster in 20ga (made in 1957) and a newer 12ga express magnum that I bought new in '06. I love them and are very great "go to" guns. Congrats on your purchase and many years of enjoyment to come!

Of the 100+ guns I have owned the Remington 870 is the best fitting pump gun I have ever used. It is lightning fast to fire repeat shots for a practiced pump gunner. The only other shotgun that fits me as well is a Browning Citori over/under.

Just cleaned up the 'duck gun" 870 Express 3-1/2 after a week end of duck hunting.......full of dirt and cattail fluff, muddy dog prints....

Just kept on pumping out them duck loads.

Fits me better than most anything, and takes a beating......

The 870 is the most versatle weapon you can have in my opion.
Its a triple threat weapon, shoots shot shells, slugs and a varity of less leathah rounds.
its a very easy to modify to your use.
I have a couple or 5 sitting around.

versatile firearm.......yes. Weapon? No. Weapon is used in offense and against people. A firearm is a tool which can be used as a weapon, much like a knife or a baseball bat. Or Aunt Edna's casserole for that manner.

Can't go wrong with an 870! Mine is set up with a rifled slug barrel. We have them at work too, extended mag tubes, and #4 buck....Good man-stoppers, in case any of the inmates escape, or decide to get REALLY stupid......
