    This is Kentucky!

Life has been tough since they stopped making the 1 gallon glass jugs, but we get by.

Would you believe there are barrel factories all over this area?

What kind of price do they go for? I'm guessing if you are a distillery you get to pay top dollar.

Truth is that burbon is made using new burned out and chared barrels.

After the barrels are filled and the whisky aged it is bottled. the barrels are never used for a second run of whisky.

The empty barrels are shipped to Europe and used a second time for wine production.

Some of them are used to age that scotch in the above photo. All the barrels show were probably used to age Burbon before they held scotch

That means that all the Whisky must be put into new barrels. That's a lot of barrels!

I do not know what the price is but I would expect it is high. Even the defective, leaky barrels they can not ship to Europe sell for quite a bit as planters and decorations. Always sawed in half so they can not be reused mind you.

I like that photo of all the barrels. My son got me a barrel for a present recently. It still has a gallon or so bourbon in it. I've been working up the courage to drink a few glugs.

what's challenging for me to find is a 30 gallon oak keg, a affordable 30 gallon keg. any thoughts?
