    Default Are you Ready?

    Just to let folks know - this issue of Shooting Times. Volume 53, Issue 10, has an article on a firearms gear guide for Preppers. Some what shallow article but some good tips.

    But, but, but, I don't get Shooting Times. I'm doomed.

    I stopped getting Shooting Times when the cost of the magazine exceeded the cost of a box of CCI minimags!

    We already know what gear preppers need, 40,000 rounds of ammo, and a basement full of guns

    Yep, we overdo the ammo thing.

    Starting with 40,000 rounds;

    If I killed a deer each week for he next 20 years I would still leave 39,000 rounds for the next generation.

    And if life expectancy in a firefight is 15-20 seconds you can pretty much count on getting popped during the first magazine change, so that is no real excuse for all that excess.

    Do you know what you'd feel like after 40k rounds through an MN? Your arm would fall off after the first 100 rounds (except those Russian girls. They are tough!). The MN would be just fine though.

    Silly, you only use the Mosins to shoot the deer. You shoot the zombies with the 39,950 rounds of .22lr.
