    Default What I DIDN'T do.

Took the overland route to a little lake that I had ignored for some years. Really beautiful up there; I was really contemplating staying overnight.
Except everyone I saw told me they had fished and fished, without a bite. I proceededad to act like fishing was the only reason to be out there.
I did not start a fire with a flint and no "pocket tender", I did not practice with my new blow gun...I didn't even take a decent walk (and neither did the dog).
These are all projects that I could have jumped right into.
So I flunked the adaptability test. Sure glad that I wasn't in a survival situation...

You didn't flunk the adaptability test, you passed the relaxation and appreciation test.
Why do I live in Alaska? Because I can.

Not every walk into the woods needs to be a test of skills and stamina.

The question is did you enjoy yourself? If the answer is yes then you didn't flunk anything.

Yes, yes, relaxation, peace of mind and all that,

What was not done has cost someone a fortune.

What about the potential for a lake front development with golf course and casino?

If you notice your surroundings, any edibles or medicinal plants, the lay of the land and the beauty of nature. Then you did not waste your time. Wilderness survival comes easier when you have a love for nature and being out in it.

Sure, go ahead, ruin the survival test, good thing you came back alive....LOL.......So was all that gear heavy?

So just chalk this one up as "going for a walk", millions of people do it, even old geezers, that just walk around the block......and come back alive, every day.

Did you talk to anyone, pet a dog, enjoy the sunshine...or rain, or a chill.....because you wanted to......then it wasn't a waste.
    Congrats.

What gear? You mean I was supposed to have gear?
    Flunked another one.
Really, I had my belt knife and my pocket survival kit when I was away from the truck.
I already have the next trail spotted and I'm ready to go, again.

What drives me nuts, is seeing a jogger, wearing just running clothes, and an Ipod, maybe a water bottle, and go running for 20 miles....OMG what if the SHTF and no gear?
Can you start a fire with an Ipod?
